Training Programmes
Come and row with us on Lake Wanaka to build technique, fitness and friendships on the water. There are programmes to suit everyone – Learn to Rows, Social or Competitive.

Juniors
Wanaka Rowing Club offers young athletes programmes that develop sound technique, fitness and confidence whilst encouraging each athlete to reach their potential in a supportive and fun environment. Our Juniors squad is for rowers of school age who want to train regularly, compete at regattas, and build their skills both on and off the water. Many of our junior rowers go on to represent the club and region at South Island and National events. Training sessions are held multiple times each week, led by experienced coaches who guide rowers through structured programs suited to their level. Juniors make lifelong friends, learn the importance of commitment, discipline, perseverance, resilience and teamwork.
Masters
The Masters squad is for adults aged 27 plus who want to stay active, connected and or competitive through rowing. Whether you’ve rowed before or returned after a few years away, rowing is a great sport to build strength, improve endurance, work towards goals, connect with fellow athletes and race alongside like-minded people. Our Masters regularly compete at regattas across the South Island, join long distance endurance rows and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with training together on Lake Wanaka. Coaching sessions focus on refining technique and developing performance whilst keeping the experience fun and social. Many members combine rowing with other forms of fitness, making it a great addition to an active lifestyle.
