A squad of 19 juniors attended the rowing regatta held at Lake Dunstan at the weekend. It was the first regatta of the year for the squad with some impressive results from everyone involved.

The novice squad – Bella Culshaw, Sara Wright, Maddi Frazer, Emily Knoesen, Sammy Harry, Sophie Fenn, Meg Weedon, Gary Poilvert, Quinn Curtis, Ethan Carleton, Owen Lea and coxen Patrick Hartley.
The Under 16’s dominated the singles events with outstanding performances from Sam Pearce winning the boys U16 singles easily and then taking 3rd in the Men’s club event
In the girls singles, Wanaka were 1st and 2nd with 1st time single sculler Peta Mckay just beating her fellow sculler Greer Porter, followed by 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the B Final for Hannah Humphreys, Emma Smith and Jordan Fox – with both Emma and Jordan also racing in singles for the 1st time. We can’t forget Estelle Norman who also raced to 5th in the B final, which was her 3rd ever outing in a single scull!
All six girls made the A final in the double sculls finishing with 2nd, 6th and 7th place and 3rd in the quad sculls.
It just proves that if you put the work in you will reap the rewards.
